Dear Yellowknife Vineyard Church,
During the service on Sunday, August 17th, I announced to the church that I am resigning from my position as Worship and Small Groups pastor of Yellowknife Vineyard Church. While I am stepping down from pastoral ministry, I will continue to be part of Yellowknife Vineyard Church as a member of the community.
I am stepping down from this role because I no longer have the time or capacity to continue serving the church with the energy, focus, and excellence that I believe pastoral ministry deserves. I am now the primary caregiver in our home for Rebekah and Nathanael. Both children will be home with me, and I will be home schooling Rebekah. Our family is also going through a period of increased need as Rachel recovers from knee surgery and goes back to full-time work after Maternity leave. I have deeply valued my time in this role and the opportunity to serve the church, but I believe that for the health of my family, and my own spiritual and emotional wellbeing, it is time to step aside.
I want to take a moment to thank the people of Yellowknife Vineyard Church. Thank you for the opportunity to serve in this role, and for the trust, encouragement, and friendship I’ve experienced along the way. It has been an honour to walk alongside this church family, and I’m deeply grateful for all that God has done in and through this community.
Thank you to everyone who has served and continues to serve the church in the Worship Ministry, Media Ministry, and Small Groups Ministry. It has been an honour to serve God alongside you, and I look forward to continuing serving, albeit in a different role going forward.
Thank you to the Pastoral Leadership Team for your support and confidence in me these past two years. May you continue to lead the church with grace and faithfulness. Thank you, Jessica and Jabin, my fellow pastors. Your love for the people of YVC is clearly seen and I pray that God will shower you with his abundant grace as you continue to lead our church.
Lastly, I thank God for calling me into this season of ministry and sustaining me through it. To him be the glory for that has been accomplished in and through Yellowknife Vineyard Church!
With gratitude and blessing,
Joshua Mitton
